Sierra Club chapter hosts green trends presentation (The Post-Standard)

The Iroquois group of the Sierra Club will feature the presentation: "Green Trends: Sustainability in the Paper and Printing Industry" at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 24 at the University United Methodist Church, 1085 E. Genesee St., Syracuse.

More than two out of three people worldwide tuned in for the Beijing Olympics. Nielsen Media Research says 4.7 billion viewers globally saw at least some of the 17 days of TV coverage last month. This audience was one-fifth larger than the 3.9 billion who watched the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens.

Some scientists worry that the Large Hadron Collider will create a black hole that destroys the entire world. They turned the thing on yesterday anyway and good news: we still exist. "It will be weeks or months before two particles ever crash together in the giant tube," reports Reuters. Plenty of time for worrying!
